Yours truly is in Bruxelles, on an internship at a place some of you would never imagine me going to, however, I’m learning alot, getting more experience and I’m enjoying my stay here. Unfortunately due to various rules and regulations I will not be able to blog about politics, human rights, international law and injustice as I have done so far. But stick around, when I’m going back to SWE in the end of january, expect a lot of posts. Interesting and hopefully controversial ones.

Until then, I hope that some of you who stop by here and write me a comment about what you guys are doing, which country you are in and what your plans are for the future.

It feels like I’m always apologizing for my absence. But I’m absent because;

1. World Cup

2. I’m no longer in the town where I study, I’m home with La Familigia.

3. There is a lot for me to fix before I embark on a new adventure. I will not be able to tell you where I have landed an internship, but all I can say is that I’m moving to Brussels, Belgium and will stay there during the autumn semester.

So if you know anyone who rents out a room or an apartment in Central Brussels, please contact me

Insanity

Today, I’m going to protest against the Israeli action, it is insanity, warcrimes..you name it.. Look up Ships To Gaza and find a demonstration in your city. Time to rise up and show the Israeli Government and Our governments that we do not keep our mouths shut.

I’m extremely happy, not only did I finish the thesis today but I’ve seen pictures from various ShipToGaza blogs, and it warms my heart.

The Israeli government have decided to stop the ships to enter Gaza, talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

As a Milanista I have some things that I need to get off my chest.

1st. Grazie Leonardo, Grande Leo, for 13 years of loyalty, passion, enthusiasm and thank you for being such a great example as not only a player, a coach but as a human being.

2nd. Grazie Beppe, our loyal and hardworking Favalli. The fans supported him and cheered for him in his last game because the fans knew, they have forgotten to show appreciation for him throughout his career, mainly because he is a calm player and he is just there to work and defend, not to create drama. Beppe, in my eyes, you will be an example for future defenders. My defender – football heart will miss you.

3d. Dida, oi! You should have retired after 2007, but we will not forget the 10 years you played for us, specially champions league finals where you took us to victory. Grazie

4th. Il Presidente Berlusconi. Thank you for all you have done for Milan, but it is time to move on. You are the reason for Leo leaving, for players quitting and I’ll bet that Pato, Dinho, Pirlo will leave this summer. Silvio, Milan is not your usual bullshit politics, its time to invest or time to go away.

I’m ashamed of the Muslim I’ve been

I’m born Muslim. But only today I’m ashamed of myself and for calling myself a muslim. Let me explain, all the things I thought I knew about Islam, due to the investigation and research I’m doing on my thesis (Islamic Law vs Human Rights), only proves to me that I knew NOTHING.

I’ve read so much literature from Islamic Law jurists and professors in Islamic law, that it is only now that I can say that I’m better educated when it comes to Islam.  The more I read, the happier I get. Because it is now I realize the full content and the historical development of Islam. Islam grants women freedoms and liberties, not oppression. It is us humans, when we intepret verses and create legislation which supposedly is based on Shariah but ignore the true meaning and principles of shariah, these laws later on cripple women than strengthen them. Is it the fault of Islam? No.  Is it our fault?

Yes.

I will update you on how it goes, me and my friend have to hand in the thesis on the 27th.  I will write more about the research and the investigation, when its all done.

Hatred, Ignorance and Intolerance

There are very few occasions where I feel incredible anger, sickness and pity. The times where I feel this at the same time is when I read or see the manifestation of hatred, ignorance and intolerance. It is so easy for us human beings to blame other groups of peoples, for our own or others mistakes. As you all know I’m raised in Sweden and I’ve lived here almost my entire life. Only now, at the age of 21 I see people blaming immigrants, muslims, refugees for what they consider the fall of Sweden. Surely due to the economic crisis, the economy has suffered but where does this anger come from? Is it because they have experienced something traumatic in their lives or is it that they are just plain racists? That for some reason they think that they are more superior than others?

The examples of when a “we and them” situation has occured, is a very long list. Why should ethnicity and religion matter? The German state in the 1930′s was so unstable that the people looked and found groups of people to blame their own misery on, The former Yugoslavia, The serbs found people to point the finger at, Rwanda? Sudan? Kongo? Liberia? Afghanistan? Turkey? Russia? Israel?

Results: evil in its purest form, massmurder and slaughter of innocent lives. For what? Power, Superiority, Happiness?

I doubt that. When will people understand that racism will never get you far in your own life, it might bring you a bit happiness if you feel superior than the one next to you but your intolerance, your ignorance and the hatred that you feel, will only consume you. Because after all, you have only one life to live on this planet, so why waste it on hating?

People need to get a grip and show solidarity to those who suffer

Sweden gone bad

I woke up early today, after staying up late and finishing a final draft for an exam, took the bus to the university to edit and hand in the exam. On the bus, I tought I was going to throw up, not because it was hot as hell in the bus but because I was sitting behind a group of teenagers, maybe 16-18 years old. THE only thing they were discussing throughout the whole busride was:

- which dress and shoes to buy, their outfits

- boys

- swedish bloggers that they look upto

- arguing about a test that they will have in their civic class, it was about World War II

I’m not telling that I never discuss clothes with my female friends but THEY DIDN’T TALK ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE. When I’m with my friends, we usually discuss politics, questions regards to foreign affairs, social science..etc. One of these girls actually said (in swedish; roughly translated) “who the hell cares about the second world war?” I just wanted to stand up and give her a lecture about how that war have changed Europe and Middle East forever, but I bit my tongue.

Then this old man came on with his wife and obviously my parents raised me to stand up and offer my seat to older people, it is a question of respect. These girls sat infront of me, none of them got up, I stood up and offered them to sit down, and at the same time gave a nasty look to one of these girls sitting next to me, she didn’t get up, so that old woman had to stand up. These girls were swedes, but it doesn’t matter, I’ve seen foreign teenagers behave the same way. Something is wrong with the society, if people don’t know how to talk, how to treat other people, show respect etc.

To all young girls and boys reading this blog, let me tell you one thing; clothes, shoes, dresses, boys and peer pressure won’t get you far in life. You have to study, educate yourself and show that you have integrity. Ambition, Respect, Knowledge and Motivation will get you far in life, the rest will only make you stupid.
